The building was built more than 1800 years ago and is one of the remainders of the great Roman Empire. It has very thick break walls and very large columns made of marble and has an immediate ad strong impact / impression on visitors. At the top of the doom is an opening which served as a source of light called the Oculus.
The interiors of the pantheon are a sight to see with each pagan god having a temple in the building. The temple was letter converted into a church in 609. The building currently has the tomb of the famous artist Raphael and other Italian Kings.
The Vatican museum is also a sight you need to see with its complex collections of the world which just started as a small collection of sculptures. The museum, with patronage of two popes as the founders is a good sight to see. The Vatican is made up of many complex museums which are very diverse. It is however a very good thing to enjoy because of it’s artistic nature. Once you are at the Vatican museum once can make the walk through 0ne of four color codes which each take one and a half hours.
The palatine Hills are the center most of all the hills in the land and hold the name for that. The hills were inhibited as long ago as the 10th Century. The hills are very much linked to the Roman mythology. Archeology has been taking place since the mid 18th century. Due to these processes they have been able to find what they call the Palatine House which is believed to be the birth place of the first Roman Empire.
The Cathedral is where the pope officiates as Bishop of Rome. It is one of the 4 major Basilicas in the city. The land where the basilica sits once belonged to the Laterani Family. This land was donated to the church after being acquired as inheritance as a man marries from a rich family.
The pope’s former residence is adjustment to the Lateran Palace. When the popedom moved to Rome it settled at the Vatican instead of using the Lateran Place.
